Why look at Bing at all?

Bing is the default search engine in Windows and Microsoft Edge, which means a large share of its traffic comes from work computers. Its audience skews toward desktop users, older searchers who never changed their default browser, and professionals researching software, suppliers and services during office hours.

That shows up in its autocomplete. Bing often suggests fuller, more formal phrases, plus vendor comparisons, templates and setup questions that rarely surface first on Google. When your Google-based list starts repeating itself, Bing is a cheap way to find fresh angles.

Where the data comes from

We send your seed keyword to Bing's autocomplete together with each letter from a to z and a set of question prefixes ("how", "what", "can", "best way to"). The responses are combined into one list of up to about 300 unique suggestions.

Bing does not publish per-query search volume, so every suggestion is matched against Google search data. You get average monthly Google search volume, a 12- or 24-month trend, CPC low and high, competition on a 0–100 scale and a KD score between 5 and 99. Think of it this way: Bing helps you discover phrases, and Google volume helps you size them.

Good fits for Bing keyword research

  • B2B companies selling accounting software, office equipment, IT services or compliance training.
  • Tutorial sites covering Excel, Outlook, Teams or Windows settings.
  • Microsoft Advertising campaigns that need extra ad group ideas and negative keyword candidates.
  • Local service businesses whose customers are older and more likely to search from a desktop.

A practical workflow

  1. Enter a focused seed such as "payroll software" or "invoice template".
  2. Choose a country and language. Over 40 languages and roughly 200 countries are available.
  3. Filter by keyword length to pull out detailed, multi-word questions, and by KD to find phrases that are realistic for your site.
  4. Sort by CPC to spot commercial terms. In B2B niches, high bids usually reflect valuable leads.
  5. Copy or export to Excel/CSV, or add keywords to a plan in your dashboard.

Then run the same seed through Keyword Suggest. Phrases that appear only on Bing are often underserved topics worth a dedicated page. Drop the combined list into the Keyword Grouper so similar phrases end up on one page instead of competing with each other.

Reading the metrics with Bing in mind

B2B queries tend to have steady trends rather than seasonal spikes, so a sudden climb usually points to news: a new regulation, a product launch or a pricing change. A zero volume does not always mean zero interest; Google sometimes folds a phrase into a close variant. You can double-check a batch in the Keyword Volume tool.

KD is our own estimate based on ad competition, keyword length and search volume. It does not look at backlinks, so use it as a quick first filter and check the actual results page before committing to a topic.

Frequently asked questions

Is it worth optimizing for Bing?

Bing has a smaller share than Google, but its desktop and workplace audience is valuable for B2B. Most pages that serve users well rank on both, so Bing ideas mainly widen your topic list.

Is the search volume from Bing?

No. Bing does not publish per-keyword volume. We show average monthly Google search volume as the demand signal for each suggestion.

Can I use these keywords in Microsoft Advertising?

Yes. Export the list, group it by theme and use it to build ad groups. Check live bid estimates inside your Microsoft Advertising account before launching.

Why are Bing suggestions different from Google suggestions?

Each engine has its own users and its own autocomplete model. Bing leans toward desktop and work searches, so it surfaces more software, template and how-to-at-work phrases.

How many suggestions does one search return?

Up to about 300 unique suggestions per seed. Free accounts see full data for the first 5 results; paid plans unlock the full list.
